Biografía:
Hijo de los actores Harry Stockwell y Nina Olivette, y hermano del también desaparecido actor Guy Stockwell.
En cine, ha actuado en Sandino, The Manchurian Candidate y The Dunwich Horror.
Su carrera en televisión ha sido mucho más prolífica, actuando en muchas series tanto como invitado ocasional como parte del reparto habitual. Como ser Stargate SG-1, en el papel de un científico del planeta Kelownan y mentor de Jonas Queen (Corin Nemec) y Battlestar Galáctica como una especie de psicólogo y sacerdote.
Logros y reconocimientos:
En 1959 en el Festival de Cannes ganó el premio al Mejor Actor por Compulsion.
En 1962 en el Festival de Cannes ganó el premio al Mejor Actor por Larga jornada hacia la noche.
En 1989 estuvo nominado al Óscar como Mejor actor de reparto por Married to the mob.
En 1989 ganó el Golden Globe como Mejor actor de reparto por su participación en la serie Viajeros en el tiempo.
