1 Un visitante nos comenta Christopher Hamill (nacido en Pemberton, Wigan, el 19 de diciembre de 1958), conocido mejor por su nombre de artista Limahl (un anagrama de Hamill), es un cantante de pop inglés. Hizo el salto a la fama como líder y cantante de la banda de pop Kajagoogoo, antes de que comenzara su carrera en solitario.
En 1984 interpretó su canción de mayor éxito, "The NeverEnding Story", compuesta por Giorgio Moroder para la película homónima alemana.
Biografía:
Hamill nació en Pemberton, Wigan, una ciudad en el Gran Mánchester al noroeste de Inglaterra. Fue uno de los fundadores de la banda pop Kajagoogoo, vigente por un corto período entre 1982 a 1985. Kajagoogoo logró sólo un éxito international, "Too Shy", No. 1 en los UK Singles Chart y No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 en 1983.
Después de dejar la banda, Limahl inició una carrera en solitario, consiguiendo dos éxitos con "Only for Love" (UK No. 16) en 1983, y con "The NeverEnding Story" (UK No. 4) en 1984. Este último fue el tema principal de la película del mismo nombre, compuesta por Giorgio Moroder. La versión en inglés fue cantada con Beth Anderson, aunque en apariciones públicas se realizaron con David Bourke. La versión francesa (titulado "L'Histoire sans fin") se realizó con Ann Calvert, con letras traducidas por Pierre-André Dousset. El sencillo alcanzó el Top 5 en varios países y fue número uno en España, Suecia y Noruega.
A pesar del éxito, su álbum debut Don't Suppose de 1984, fue un fracaso comercial en el Reino Unido (aunque incluía su éxito "The NeverEnding Story"), alcanzando el puesto No.63; sin embargo, fue recibido mejor en Europa continental: fue Nº 1 en la lista de álbumes de Noruega y alcanzó el Top 10 en Austria, Suecia y Suiza.
Después de esto, Limahl lanzó sólo dos álbumes más: Colour All My Days de 1986 y el Love Is Blind en 1992, que de igual forma fueron fracasos comerciales en su país, pero encontraron un éxito moderado en Italia, España y Alemania.
No se ha podido repetir el éxito de su carrera anterior, Limahl pasó tiempos difíciles y fue fotografiado después de salir de una oficina de desempleo en el Reino Unido. Las fotografías fueron publicadas en un periódico dominical británico, de relieve que "el una vez poderoso puede caer". Él también fue ridiculizado por el cómico británico Viz, que lo satirizó como 'Limahl, cuyo hit incluye "Too Shy"'.
A finales de 1990, Limahl comenzó a hacer apariciones en clubes nocturnos. Para ello utilizó una peluca anaranjada similar a su peinado original Kajagoogoo, interpretando los éxitos de su tiempo con la banda y de su carrera como solista.
Vida personal:
Es gay. Limahl llegó a compartir piso con Paul Gambaccini (quien también fue el autor de la primera biografía de Kajagoogoo), llevando a los rumores en la prensa sensacionalista que los dos eran amantes.

Compilation of re-recorded solo and Kajagoogoo tracks, notable for the inclusion of Kajagoogoo and Kaja songs not originally sung by Limahl. Limahl later regretted their inclusion.
